The project Navel-Body-Skin explores ceramics as an archetype in visual anthropology, delving into the relationship between ceramics and the human body. It examines concepts of imprint and rotation, and the interplay of ceramics with other media, through artistic and theoretical experiments conducted in Japan and Iceland. The term ‘iconogenesis’ captures the essence of how visual mediums emerge from formless materials, highlighting the tensions between image and matter.
